A Taste of Toronto
I went to Toronto for the weekend to photograph a surprise proposal. I haven’t been back since I was a kid so I was excited to have a couple of days to check out Toronto for the weekend.
There was so much to do, see, and eat! The walkability of this city, especially to a lot of these places, was really nice. We cannot wait to go back and try all the other spots we didn’t make it to and revisit some that we absolute loved.
Here’s a round-up of all the restaurants & bars we visited on our weekend trip:
But first, coffee
📍28 Bathurst St. #1107 • Toronto, ON • @milkyscoffee
☕️ Sips: Maple Milk, Chai Latte
Visit Milky’s Cloud Room at the stackt market for a cup of coffee.
Then, breakfast or lunch
Honorable Mention📍33 Bathurst St. Unit C • Toronto, ON • @kettlemans
🍽️ Eats: The Western, Breakfast Bagel, both on garlic bagels
📍53 Roncesvalles Ave • Toronto, ON • @ambagelto
🍽️ Eats: The AM on a Sea Salt Bagel
On our way back to MI, we stopped at AM Bagel for breakfast to go. The hot sauce is phenomenal & the eggs are incredibly fluffy.
📍65 Front St. St W. • Toronto, ON • @roywoodstoronto
🍽️ Eats: Jerk Wings, Plantain
Inside the food court at the Union Station is this delicious jerk chicken spot that cooks everything to order.
📍65 Front St. St W. Union 017 Unit 331 Floor B1 • Toronto, ON • @oakberry.ca
Acai & Smoothie spot inside of the Union Station; One of the better Acai bowls we’ve tried and it comes with unlimited toppings. Definitely great for a filling, yet light breakfast.
📍421 Dundas St. W • Toronto, ON
🍽️ Eats: Shanghai Dumplings w/ Minced Pork, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Siu Mai, Shrimp Dumplings, Deep‑fried Crispy Chicken Spring Rolls, Egg Tarts, Buns w/ Salted Egg Yolk
This was a good amount for two people. We could’ve ordered more food but we wanted to save room for dinner later. Everything is so good here.
And, definitely dinner
📍101 Portland St. • Toronto, ON • @gusto101to
🍽️ Eats: Cavoletti Di Brunelleschi, Mafalde Al Funghi, Pepperoni Pizza, Tiramisu
🥃 Sips: Sempreverde, Il Morandi
The pizza is enough for one or to share between two people. There was a perfect balance between heat from the pepperoni and sweetness from the honey. We are still dreaming of the truffle cream sauce from the Mafalde al funghi. 🤤 We’ll be back for you.
📍102 Portland St • Toronto, ON • @littlesisterto
🍽️ Eats: Lamb Satay, Semur Java Beef, Udang Kari, Nasi Goreng
🥃 Sips: Tropic Like It’s Hot, Little Brother, House Negroni
They had amazing food & were the best cocktail spot we tried during this trip. The Semur Java reminds me of a Vietnamese Bo Kho (beef stew) & the Udang Kari reminds me of Vietnamese Ca Ri (Vietnamese Curry).
We walked in on a busy Saturday night & luckily, they were still serving food. We were seated right away. They had amazing food & were the best cocktail spot we tried during this trip. We will definitely be visiting again.
📍165 York St. • Toronto, ON • @thekegsteakhouse
🍽️ Eats: Wedge Salad, Bacon Wrapped Filey, Prime Rib, Garlic Mashed Potato, Baked Potato, Vegetable Medley
🥃 Sips: House Negroni
Something to sip on
📍Bosk • 188 University Ave • Toronto, ON • @shangrilato
🥃 Sips: Peaches n Clouds
A chic, high‑end restaurant and bar; We sat at the bar and had a cocktail while we were waiting to meet up with our friends.
📍100 Front St. W. • Toronto, ON • @clockworktoronto
🥃 Sips: Negroni, Matter of Time (mocktail)
A stunning lounge in the center of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel; We stopped in a Monday night for a celebratory drink with friends. The lounge and hotel were very lively on a Monday night. The drinks were great and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the mocktail. 👀🤌🏽
📍600 King St. W. • Toronto, ON 8 • @anejorestaurant
🥃 Sips: Classic Margarita, Mezcal Aviation
A very popular spot & reservations are recommended if you want to get in to dine & drink; We stopped in for drinks on a Sunday and were seated right away. We did try to get in Saturday night but the wait was about an hour without reservations. We didn’t get to try the food but the drinks are fantastic. They had a great vibe, music, and environment.
