One of my favorite things about shooting senior portraits is how unique each session looks. It’s not every day you have a senior that wants to shoot during the winter season. And, the World of Winter Festival isn’t exactly your typical backdrop.

Let’s be honest, Amel isn’t like most senior girls. So, I was thrilled when she came to me with her vision. It was full of creativity and personality.

The day was cold and rainy. So, we started off her session at the Grand Rapids Public Library. The grandeur of the floor to ceiling marble made for some stunning photos.

Continuing the grandeur theme, we also shot inside of the Amway Grand hotel. Once the rain stopped, we headed outside to finish the rest of her session and explore the interactive art installations for the World of Winter Festival that was spread across downtown.

It was fitting that Amel wanted to have a nod to art because her mother is an amazing artist in Grand Rapids.

We were really happy with the way her session turned out and I’m excited to see what downtown Grand Rapids will install this winter for the World of Winter Festival.
