Like a Scene from The Notebook

When Brie told me she wanted her October engagement session to include Lake Michigan, I didn’t expect for her to be serious about running into the frigid waters of Lake Michigan. But somehow, Brie + Lucas made it look so effortless and warm.

We started their session in their home that they recently purchased together. An in-home session can be so cozy and romantic because it captures moments of your everyday life. From dancing in the kitchen to photos with their pup, the simplicity of these moments speak for themselves.

Yes, I absolutely had them take a shot. One to toast and celebrate their engagement and two to warm up as we’re about to brave the chilly waters of Lake Michigan on Oct. 31.

This was the road that led us to the beach. We stopped alongside the empty road to snag a few nature-esque photos for Brie + Lucas. The warm tones are my favorite here.

Last, but not least, we braved the windy and chilly conditions of Lake Michigan. So many photographers were lined up in full on winter coats to take photos of the sunset. But, here we are, having Brie + Lucas run and dance in the waters while thinking “warm thoughts” to capture these beautiful moments of them. We really only had one take to get these photos right and we are so in love with them. Watch out, Aly + Noah. Brie + Lucas are coming for you.
