Slow Down

It has been close to two months since Michigan has been placed on a Stay-Home Order.

And truthfully, I’ve been really struggling with how to cope with this pandemic. It really is uncharted territory between the uncertainty of our health, livelihoods, and so much more. I find myself more anxious than ever before trying to figure out a solution on how we can find a sense of normalcy and make the “right” decision.

The weeks go by fast yet the days are slow, for me. This is the most time I’ve had ever to invest in personal and creative projects but the uncertainty of our future has me frozen and in a creative rut. I’ve had many moments with myself, telling myself, that is okay to not do anything or feel productive because we’re collectively experiencing a pandemic.

At some point, it is okay to turn off your phone, get off of social media (hell delete some people if necessary for your mental health, turn off the news, and just be present with yourself. Taking some time to be self-aware and assess the situation really helped me make decisions based on logic and to be as ethical as I can be during this time.

And once you find some sense of peace, your creativity will return. I’ve decided to jot down some projects I would like to start once I’m ready. In the meantime, it’s okay to slow down.
